Course Overview
The Level 2 Award in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator, a Qualsafe Award, provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills to respond confidently and effectively to cardiac emergencies. Learners will practise assessing and managing a casualty who requires cardiopulmonary resuscitation and learn the safe use of an automated external defibrillator. The qualification follows the recommendations of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and expert emergency medical practitioners, ensuring evidence-based, practical life-saving skills.

This course is suitable for individuals with a specific interest or responsibility in providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation and using an automated external defibrillator in an emergency. This includes:

Entry Requirements
Learners must be at least 14 years old on the first day of training and able to perform practical tasks at floor level. No other formal academic requirements exist, though Level 1 literacy and numeracy or equivalent is strongly recommended.

Progression
Successful completion of this Level 2 Award may support progression to higher-level first aid and resuscitation qualifications and assist career development in relevant professions.

Requalification Requirements
This Qualsafe Award is valid for 1 year. Learners must retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified to provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation and operate an automated external defibrillator.
